Rincón de la Vieja national park, Costa Rica – A 10 km trek, one crowded but pretty-like-in-the-movies waterfall, cute but obviously antisocial white-throated monkeys, huge dramatic trees, burning sun, some shade & very little drinkable water. Great shape!
Santa Rosa national park & Playa Naranjo, Costa Rica – 24 kms with the 4×4, very bumpy tracks, tones of iguanas (we’re getting pretty blasé about it), a 7 km white sand beach, burning sun, zero shade & still not enough drinkable water. Good shape.
Note to self: Think of water next time.
